Check out the two augmented reality murals by artist Nikos Tsounakas and his group entitled ‘Pallas//Nemea’, which are on display on Kalamatiou Road, behind Aghia Irene Square. This venture, part of the Athens Digital Arts Festival has incorporated augmented reality technology into art, so that these at first glance static murals can be made to move via the use of the viewer’s smartphone or tablet and the Layar application. Pretty funky eh?
The murals marry Greek mythology (eg the figures of Athina Pallada and the Lion of Nemea) with contemporary urban culture, street art and digital technology.
