A unique vernissage at Thalia

THE OPENING OF THE EXHIBITION ‘Through the Eyes of Aphrodite’ was realized on September 8, to the sound of ancient lyre harp music, being played live by Aliki Markantonatou. The musician’s ancient tunes wafted through the space creating a trully unique environment. The exhibition comprises the works of Stella Sevastopoulos, George Bardakas and Natalia Kazirelova, and has been curated by Audrey Alamy, founder of Thalia Gallery. ‘Through the Eyes of Aphrodite’ explores the myths of the ancient goddess of Beauty and Love but also the darker emotions of stories related to her… such as jealousy. Texts presented in the form of ancient papyruses accompany the art works and guide the viewer through the different myths and facts about Aphrodite, from her birth created when Cronus threw Uranus’s testacles in the sea, to her turbulent marriage with Hephaestus.

At the opening, guests were greeted with a drink of ydromeli, a mythical ancient concoction of honey and water, but also with wine, choux and other delicacies. Many visited the exhibition, among them art lovers but also artists and representatives from the municipality, including the mayor of Alimos.

The exhibition ‘Through the Eyes of Aphrodite’ runs till September 30. The works are also displayed on the French online gallery Clio Galerie d’Art
