ART ATHINA, recognised as the country’s premier annual artistic event, presents Art Athina Pop Up @ InterContinental Athens. It is a groundbreaking initiative that makes a mark on the city’s cultural landscape, by focusing on sculpture and broadening the experience of an art exhibition beyond traditional spaces.

Starting on May 29th and for an entire month, visitors will be invited to explore 27 artworks presented by 27 galleries, participating in this year’s edition of Art Athina. The artworks will engage in a dialogue with the 17 artworks of the collection of the InterContinental Athens, currently exhibited on the premises.

In the words of the curator of Art Athina Pop Up, Savvas Sagioglou:

«The exhibition takes shape through the materiality of the sculptures, the directness of their construction and the way they are defining the space and are being defined by it. The idea in its entirety focuses on the autonomy of each sculpture, allowing its independent presence whilst engaging in dialogue with the visitor ».

Through the Pop Up, Art Athina, affirms its active role beyond its established annual event and continues to strengthen its presence in the contemporary exhibition scene and to maintain its dialogue with the public. It creatively engages with the city of Athens and confirms its timeless presence as a pilar of the contemporary artistic scene, fostering vibrant dialogues between the artworks, the artists and the public.
