FOKIANOU ART SPACE is pleased to announce its participation in the third edition of the TRYST Alternative Art Fair, taking place at the Torrance Art Museum (TAM) in Los Angeles from July 11 to 13, 2025. FokiaNou is proud to be the first Greek art space to take part in the fair.

TRYST is an international art fair dedicated to artist-run spaces and serves as a global forum for dialogue, addressing the challenges and opportunities of international networking and collaboration among independent art initiatives. This year’s edition will feature over 60 participants from California, the United States, and around the world.

Based in Athens, Greece, FokiaNou Art Space will present the group exhibition “LA25”, showcasing works by 13 artists: Sarah Barsness, John Bicknell, Maria Bourbou, Mary Cox, Sarah Ettlinger, Dimitra Gounari, Dimitra Maltabe, Nikos Podias, Caroline Pradal, Geeta Roopnarine, Panagiotis Voulgaris, Erika Winstone and Kiveli Zachariou.

Most of the participating artists have chosen Athens as their home and creative base. Their work draws from personal research and the lived experience of the city, reflecting the multifaceted and often contradictory nature of Athens—a city both ancient and modern, intense yet contemplative, full of challenges and brimming with artistic energy. Themes of materiality, memory, landscape, mythology, and urban life weave throughout the exhibition, positioning Athens as a vibrant site of creative inquiry and artistic production.
“LA25” not only highlights this dynamic artistic community but also proposes a poetic and symbolic dialogue between Athens and Los Angeles—two cities characterized by bright light, urban sprawl, proximity to the sea, and vibrant yet often fragile cultural ecosystems. The exhibition subtly emphasizes these shared conditions, creating a sensory and conceptual bridge between the two.
As Los Angeles prepares to host the Summer Olympic Games in 2028, the exhibition makes a quiet reference to Athens, the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games in 1896, underscoring a symbolic connection between the two cities.

In addition to the main exhibition, the TRYST Alternative Art Fair will feature a rich program of performances, talks, and social events, fostering direct exchange between artists, curators, and the public. FokiaNou’s participation in TRYST marks another step in the space’s ongoing international engagement, following its recent successful presentation in Karlsruhe, Germany. Through its involvement in major international events, FokiaNou contributes to strengthening ties among independent art spaces, promoting dialogue, collaboration, and exchange on a global scale.
