TSANTILIS Art Gallery presents the solo exhibition “Aegean Concept of Blue”, by artist Stella Sevastopoulos. Opening reception is on Friday, April 17, 18:00 – 21:00. The exhibition runs till April 29. In this new body of work, Stella Sevastopoulos focuses on seascapes inspired by the Aegean Sea, capturing its unique light and rich spectrum of blues—from deep indigos to luminous turquoise. Using acrylics, pouring techniques, and glazes, the artist creates fluid surfaces that evoke the sea’s movement, clarity, and shifting moods.
Stella Sevastopoulos says of the Aegean the following:
“The Aegean Sea lies between Greece and Turkey, between the edge of Europe and the beginning of Asia. Between the West and the East. Due to its unique seawater composition, the Aegean Sea has the widest range of blues than any other sea: from the darkest indigos to the lightest cyans and azures. My seascapes pay homage to the Aegean Sea, a sea which got its name from the myth of Aegaeus. I want to depict its many faces: from a wintery and wild grey sunset along the Athens Riviera coast, to the pristine turquoise waters of the Aegean Islands (and there are over 150 islands in the Aegean sea). From when this sea is at its most ‘expressive’, with its waves and dynamic motion, to when it is a tranquil, turquoise dream.”

Blending the essence of the Greek landscape with a contemporary aesthetic, these works are designed to elevate any space, offering a refined visual experience that evokes the serenity and timeless beauty of the sea.
