When art gets the blues

THE RAINBOW project continues in the heart of Athens, on Kolonaki Square, at the historical Hellenic-French Association (League), with its series of art exhibitions, each of which explores one of the colours of the rainbow. Next up, the fifth exhibition in the series, explores the colour blue. The colour which is so much part and parcel of Greece, will be explored by 27 artists. So for those lovers of the colour blue, a visit to this exhibition will allow you to bathe in its beautiful hues. The colour which has been associated with spirituality, melancholy, the sky and the sea, the Madonna/Virgin Mary, but also with political parties that tend to the right, also had a special place in ancient Egyptian culture, while in academic arguments of recent years, it has been argued that in ancient Greek culture, there was no specific name for this colour, which is surprising seeing that it’s the colour that is most prevalent in Greece, due to the colour of its seas and skies.
