THE ART OF engraving in Greece has a long history, and many followers. Artist Rena Anousi-Ilias is a master engraver who runs printing workshops, enabling many others to learn this wonderful practice. Now, she and her students come together with an exhibition dedicated to ‘The Form of the Mother’, producing also a lovely calendar with the subject, for 2024.  

The engraving workshop of Rena Anousi-Ilias, of the Municipality of Nikea – Ag. I. Renti is organizing the exhibition ‘The Form of the Mother’, that will run from 11 to 16 December 2023 at the National Resistance Museum of Ilioupoli. The exhibition opening will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 & at 6:00 p.m with the presentation of the art calendar for 2024, that includes the works.

The master of engraving Rena Anousi – Ilias proposed to her students the theme of ‘The Form of the Mother’, to which they responded by creating 17 works on the subject (woodcuts & linocuts) were created on the subject.

The works of the following artists/students of Rena Anousi-Ilias make up the core theme of the mother, for this exhibition: Alexopoulou Yianna, Vrakas Yiannis, Vrelianaki Polyanna, Gentzou Natasa, Georgiadou Maria, Katerina Theodorou, Matala Maria, Mellou Tonia, Netsi

Mary, Nikoloulias Dimitris, Papadimitriou Marina, Pavli Angeliki, Samantzi Thomais, Sideri Varvara, Sklavenitis, Dimitris, Tsavaris Kaiti, Tsimogiannis Stelios.

Also included in the exhibition are 24 works from the Charalambos Leontiadis collection, presenting historical milestones in the art of Neo-Hellenic engraving,  which connect the emblematic yesterday with the hopeful today.
