SKOUFA GALLERY is very pleased to present the new solo exhibition of George Hadoulis, entitled ‘New Landscapes’, which opens on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 19:30 and will last until May 11, 2024.

In his eleventh solo exhibition at Skoufa Gallery, Giorgos Hadoulis presents a series of twenty new works, which he has created over the last three years, consisting of large-scale oils on canvas and works with inks on paper. Their subject matter is drawn from landscapes deeply rooted in the artist’s memory, landscapes that he has lived and explored. With his own characteristic style of painting he transports us to a world where one can wander and search for one’s own personal memories.

As the artist himself states: “These landscapes are based on real landscapes but are painted freely. I know them well, I have dived from the rocks into their seas, I know when their waters are cold or warm. I have lain down in the shade of the pines. There’s resin from those pine trees stuck to my bathing suit. I know how dry the grasses are under them. I have seen the moon rise behind these hills, and I think how many before me will have felt all this as I have, and how many after me.”

Born in Athens in 1966, George Hadoulis is one of the most popular painters of his generation. He studied painting at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he lived for almost ten years and has since then systematically exhibited his work in Greece and abroad.

Further to his paintings he has also created particularly remarkable works in drawing, lithography and ceramics. Using bright colors and clean design, George Hadoulis’ work glorifies what it means to be alive.

His works can be found in museums, such as the National Gallery and the Vassilis and Elizas Goulandris Foundation, as well as in important public and private collections.
