FROM ANCIENT times, the Greek god Eros has been shooting his arrows all over the place, inspiring many artists from around the world to focus on the winged deity, or the outcomes of his actions. But many Greek artists have also spoken of love in their art, in one way or another. Here is how some Greek artists have depicted love through the years.
The works are by Nikiforos Lytras (1832-1904), Yiorgos Gounaropoulos (1889-1977), Yannis Tsarouchis (1910-1989), Yannis Moralis (1916-2009), Dimitris Mytaras (b. 1934 and passed away Feb 16, 2017), Alekos Fassianos (b. 1935), Haris Lambert (b. 1955).
On a more contemporary note, follows Zoi Pappa’s work, entitled ‘I will always love you’, and a work by Alexis Kyritsopoulos, whose exhibition opens today at the Skoufa Gallery (Kolonaki), and will be celebrating love there till March 8.
