Papatriantafyllopoulos, Tsarouchis and Other Stories

TSANTILIS ART presents the exhibition “Painting Tsarouchis and Other Stories”, a significant artistic presentation dedicated to the work of renowned Greek painter Kostas Papatriantafyllopoulos — an artist who bridges Greek tradition with contemporary European painting. The exhibition’s opening reception is on Friday, May 15, 18.30-21.30. Runs till May 30.

About the Exhibition

The exhibition, “Painting Tsarouchis and Other Stories”, showcases the artist’s unique ability to transform light, atmosphere, and everyday moments into vibrant, poetic experiences. The exhibition features oil, crayon, and mixed-media works, exploring themes from Athens and nature: sunsets, the Acropolis, flowers, and still lifes. Each piece acts as a pause in time, inviting viewers into a contemplative and sensory experience.

Papatriantafyllopoulos’s works frequently appear in international auction houses, in Greece and abroad, reflecting the global recognition and demand for his art.

About the Artist

Papatriantafyllopoulos studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and continued his studies at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was a student and close friend of the legendary painter Yannis Tsarouchis, an influence that shaped his artistic vision. At the same time, he developed a strong foundation in Byzantine artistic tradition, carefully studying egg tempera techniques and the work of master icon painter Fotis Kontoglou.

Today, he is widely regarded by art historians and collectors as one of the last great Greek artists of the Parisian School and among the remaining important masters of 20th-century Greek painting.
